H-GAC Regional Plan for Sustainable Development
Vesta Rea & Associates, LLC (VRA) was a key subconsultant involved on a two-year public outreach and communication program for the H-GAC Regional Plan for Sustainable Development. The outreach effort crossed jurisdictional and geographical boundaries of the 13 counties surrounding Houston. The plan offered development choices to coastal, rural, suburban and urban communities, with sustainability as the common thread.
The outreach program involved 100 stakeholder interviews, a major survey development and implementation, four transect focus groups, 25 small community meetings, 20 large public outreach meetings, and four youth public outreach meetings.

VRA’s primary responsibilities were:
- Develop and maintain a database of over 4,000 contacts
- Develop the survey, as well as distribute, enter data, analyze and report the survey results
- Interview 20 stakeholders
- Coordinate and implement five of the small community meetings and 10 of the large public outreach meetings
- Create the strategy, organize and implement the four youth interactive public outreach meetings
